the beginning

Growing up I couldn’t wait for the next holiday, wedding, or big occasion where I would be adorned in jewels. I would get ready as fast as I could and rush to my parents room before my mom could even call my name.

She’d pull out the perfect set, every single time.
Earrings, bangles, a necklace, and nose ring, with the occasional tikka. I didn't care how heavy my jhumka were or if the bangles were one size too small, my jewels were my protection.

As I got older my father would go on business trips, always returning with gems and jewels. The piece that started my real collection was a necklace from Türkiye. A dainty chain with a Zultanite pendant set in a circle of diamonds. The color changing stone absorbed me just as it did the light.

Some of the most important people in my life have gifted me jewelry that kept this obsession of adornment alive. In high school my best friend purchased me a gold Claddagh ring and taught me the meaning of the design. I was enamored at how such a small piece of metal could hold so much history and later on bring me even more emotion.
I wore it until it broke in half.

For a long time the relationship I had with jewelry was personal and honestly at the time, insignificant to my future. Little shiny objects, that when glanced at, filled me with memories throughout the day. As if wrapped around me were all the people I loved and who loved me.

When given the opportunity to work on my own jewelry line I immediately knew I wanted to incorporate my faith but wasn't quite sure how. A few weeks later I attended a class with the herbalist M Salim Khan who spoke about the four temperaments that holistic medicine treats. These temperaments directly aligned with the classical elements, each having crystals and gemstones they identify with. After talking to those who had studied Tibb and a few friends well versed in healing properties of crystals, temperament jewelry became my new vision.

And so, with faith inspired designs and stones diligently chosen, Kismet was born. I hope you enjoy my designs as much as I did creating them.
